Acid Peels can be wonderful for anti-aging, treating Acne, or lightening-and-brightening dark spots, but they can also be dangerous if not done correctly. Read on or watch our VERY short video below to make sure you get the results you want!
Here they are: 4 quick tips you NEED to know BEFORE you get an Acid Peel (so you don’t end up damaging your skin!)
1. Make sure your skin will be covered and protected AFTER the Acid Peel.
If possible, try to make the appointment in the EVENING or on a cloudy day when the Sun is not shining. Your skin becomes very vulnerable following an Acid Peel and can be damaged just in the short distance it takes to walk from the Spa to your car! If you can’t avoid a sunny day, wear a big hat or a scarf to help shield your skin while you walk to your car and drive home.
Also, try to schedule the appointment at a time when you can immediately go home. Do NOT run errands or make any stops after the appointment!
2. Do NOT exfoliate at least 7-to-10 days BEFORE the appointment.
The Acid Peel will be doing a number on your skin, if you exfoliate before it, it may end up damaging your skin.
3. Prep your skin with a Pre-Treatment Kit.
If you have an Esthetician you visit on a regular basis, they may recommend a Pre-Treatment Kit with skincare products that will lower the pH of your skin to prepare it for the facial and Acid Peel.
4. AVOID getting Acid Peels in the Summer or Spring time!
Wait to schedule an appointment for an Acid Peel during the cooler months in the Fall and Winter. The Sun is not as strong and is less likely to damage your skin following your treatment.
