Which Eye Product Is Best Used With Eyelash Extensions?

Eye products that are best used with eyelash extensions are water based and not oil based. For example,it best to apply eye gel (water based) than an eye cream.

Eye creams are better suited to address dry, thin, skin but because it usually has a higher oil content, eye gels are better suited for eyelash extensions.

Remember that when you close your eyes, the underside of the upper lashes get eye cream on them and can break down the eyelash adhesive and also can cause dust and skin particles to clump the lashes together.

The best place to apply water based eye gels are just above the cheeks under the eye. With heat, the product will naturally migrate closer to the eye.

Straight oils such as Vitamin E, coconut oil. olive oil, or any other oil is not recommended.

OIL FREE MAKE UP REMOVER IS NOT ALWAYS OIL FREE

Just because the label says “oil free” it doesn’t mean that is completely oil free. If the eye make up remover separates (like Italian dressing) , then it may contain a type of oil. If the oil doesn’t directly come from an animal, seed, or plant, then they can technically put “oil free”.

If it contains petroleum based ingredients, it still can say “oil free”.

Most eye make up removers contains oil because oil breaks down oil.

Most eye make up remover WIPES can also contain oil. Look for eye make up remover that are pure liquid OR gels.

Most eye make up removers that are created by the Eyelash extension manufacturers will have their own product but they tend to be somewhat expensive. But they do work without eyelash extensions falling off.

We carry one that was created for professional make up artists so when the make artist made a mistake, they could use this product and apply eye make up RIGHT AWAY without it smearing or smudging. COMPLETELY OIL FREE and without the high price.

3. BEST EYE PRODUCT FOR EYELASH EXTENSION-EYELASH BRUSH : DO NOT USE A SPOOLY OR EYELASH COMB

When trying to keep the eyelash extensions clean and dust free, do NOT use a mascara wand (spooly) . They collect lint and dust. They actually can put more lint and dust on the eyelash extensions. Quite frequently, many people will “clean off” their spooly with their fingers leaving the oils from their fingers on the spooly.

Use an eyelash extension brush that is made out of Taklon NOT hair. Hair tends to naturally collect oil on the bristles. Where the Talon resists oil on the bristles. Use this brush to dust off eyelash extensions from the topside and underside of the eyelash extensions.

4. BEST EYE PRODUCT FOR EYELASH EXTENSIONS: MASCARA FOR EYELASH EXTENSIONS

Typically, I don’t recommend mascara for eyelash extensions as they can begin to clump together and cause the eyelash extensions to stick together.

If you STILL want to wear mascara on the lower lashes, please use a mascara that was created for eyelash extensions because they will come off easier.

5. BEST EYE PRODUCT FOR EYELASHES EXTENSIONS: EYELASH EXTENSION SEALER

The oils from your lash line naturally get onto your lashes to keep your NATURAL lashes soft and supple.

When you have eyelash extensions, the natural oils are the enemy of the eyelash extensions. This is why after a while the eyelash extensions start to have clumps such as the photo below:

Lash line has clumps because no eyelash extension sealer was used.

Eyelash extensions can clump together if home care is not done correctly.

Remember, exposing your eyelash extensions to water, humidity, steam, sweat, and products with oils with shorten the look and life of eyelash extensions. The first 48 hours after application is the most important because that is the curing time of the adhesive on to the lashes.

Investing time and money in eyelash extensions is not worth it, if you are not also going to invest in products that will lengthen the look and life of your eyelashes.
